University is the first full-fledged Christian
University in India
Lutheran
University is a new multi campus university
established under Section 2 of the University
Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956 through the
Chhattisgarh Nizi Kshetra Viswavidyalaya (Sthapana
Aur Viniyaman) Adhiniyam 2002 vide notification
number F/73/144/2003/HE/38 dated 30th August
2003 issued by the Government of Chhattisgarh.
The University is empowered to affiliate any
college or other institution (under section
6) and to have study centres at different places
in India and other countries (under section
3) of the same Act.
Founder
Dr. K Rajaratnam.
Dr.
Kunchala Rajaratnam is a renowned economist
and brilliant academician with a doctorate from
the prestigious London school of Economics.
As Convenor of the Syndicate and Chaiperson
of the Postgraduate Board of Studies of Madras
University he is acknowledged for introducing
the concept and curricula of environmental economics
and Gandhian studies. One of his laudable contributions
as Master (Chancellor) of the Serampore University
has been the establishment of the Department
of Dalit Liberation Theology. He is the Founder-Director
of the Center for Research on New International
Economic Order, which is noted for its contribution
to development and eco-restoration in the country.
It is noteworthy that as a lay church leader
he held the highest position as President of
the National Christian Council of Churches in
India and Director of the Gurukul Lutheran Theological
Research Institute. He was awarded an honorary
DLitt by Venkateswara University.

is an experienced medical educationist and former
secretary of the Medical Council of India. He
has held faculty appointments in India and abroad
and was a WHO consultant on medical education.
He rich experience in health sciences education
